The 2009 Great Brook Run

The Fourth Great Brook Run will take place on the 27th of December and we're hoping for the biggest turn out yet.

This year there will (possibly) be a few famous faces taking part, there will be hot food served all day, mulled wine and toasty warm fires, live music in the evening and as usual, a lot of

The Race: What is it?

The Great Brook Run is an annual race held on the 27th of December which aims to get the competitors cold, wet and muddy, before retiring to a traditional Cotswold pub to warm their toes by the fire, have an ale or two and regale each other with stories of derring do.

The race starts from outside the Tite Inn in Chadlington, Oxfordshire and courses for half a mile across muddy fields before turning back to the pub. The return journey, however, is in a brook.

Frequently muddy, often rocky, our intrepid adventurers battle against the current to make the half mile back to the pub. Climbing over fallen trees, the odd fence and crawling along a rapidly lowering tunnel are just some of the highlights awaiting our heroes!

Once back everyone has thoroughly worked off the Christmas excesses, is drenched from head to foot, cold, covered in mud but (almost) without exception has a great big grin plastered on their faces.

Want to take part?

The race kicks off at 12:30 on the 27th of December from the Tite Inn. Registration starts from 11:00 and the pub is open selling hot food as well as hot and cold bevereges to competitors and spectators.

Simply turn up and register by 12:15 to take part. Competitors under the age of 16 must have adult supervision. Entry is £5 with all proceeds going to Friends of Chadlington School.

Wear whatever you like, but sturdy footwear is a must. Wellies are a bad idea!!
